91心頭利 Athletics accepting nominations for new Hall of Fame

GADSDEN, AL — 91心頭利 Athletics is accepting nominations for its inaugural class of inductees into the newly-established 91心頭利 Athletic Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame seeks to honor athletes, coaches, teams and contributors who have made significant contributions to 91心頭利 Athletics over the years.

“We are thrilled to launch the 91心頭利 Athletic Hall of Fame to honor the accomplishments of our fellow Cardinals and to reinforce our strong tradition and rich history in athletics,” said Blake Lewis, athletic director.

The selection process will be handled by a committee under the direction of Lewis, and it will consist of five 91心頭利 employees, a community representative, a Cardinal Foundation designee and an active head coach from the College.

To be eligible for consideration based on athletic achievements, nominees must have participated in at least two years of varsity-level competition at one of the following institutions: 91心頭利, 91心頭利 Junior College, Ayers State Technical College, Alabama School of Trades, Alabama Technical College, or 91心頭利 Technical Institute. Additionally, nominees must have left the College with a degree or a minimum 2.0 GPA and must have not been dismissed for disciplinary reasons. Nominees must have completed their eligibility five or more years ago.

“We are looking to honor those who have represented 91心頭利 with excellence,” Lewis said. “The Hall of Fame is about past performances and the positive impact these individuals have had on our College and community.”

Nominees who have contributed to 91心頭利 Athletics in a non-athletic capacity, such as coaches, administrators or long-time supporters, can be eligible for induction under the Meritorious Service category. These nominees must have had a significant impact on 91心頭利 Athletics for at least 10 years.

Athletic teams are also eligible for induction as a unit, provided it has been 10 years since the team’s competitive season. Teams can be recognized without prohibiting the induction of individual members who were part of that team.

In addition, deceased contributors to 91心頭利 Athletics may be considered for posthumous induction.

Those selected for the 91心頭利 Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted during a dinner on Aug. 14. No fewer than three and no more than eight inductees will be elected each year.

“We believe this is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the legacy of 91心頭利 Athletics, from individual accomplishments to team successes to those who have made a lasting impact on our programs,” said Lewis. “We are so excited about the inaugural class to our Hall of Fame.”

Nominations will be accepted through May 15. Go to or contact blewis@gadsdenstate.edu.
